WHAT TO EXPECT

In any situation in which attempts are being made to resolve conflict a firm, but fair and understanding, facilitator is required. This is what you will find here. I have private offices where your matter will be dealt with confidentially.

In mediation, no settlement will be imposed upon you – you, and the other party, will be guided and assisted to resolve your dispute.

In arbitration, impartial decisions will be made.

MEDIATION AND ME

I have been in the legal world for in excess of thirty years and, in that time, have experienced many conflicts over many different issues. In most matters ending with a court judgement, even the winning party felt that they had not achieved complete success. An imposed resolution, such as a court judgement, does not satisfy everyone. The matters in which parties were the most satisfied were those in which the parties had reached a settlement; a conclusion which they had agreed to.

Stability and, most importantly, peace in a society is achieved by understanding and shared values. To achieve this it is necessary for people to talk, understand others’ motivations, make allowance for others and ‘build bridges’. A desire to contribute to a stable and peaceful society started me on the road to mediation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). Whilst not all matters are suitable for ADR, starting with mediation, or other forms of ADR, will usually assist in narrowing issues even if the dispute ends up going to court.
